This image was about pushing colour blocking and creating something graphic, bold and unapologetic.

The strong fringe gives the shape its identity, while the contrast of orange and black brings another dimension to the collection.

I still love that feeling of asking…

“What if we tried this?”

Because creativity comes from staying curious, experimenting and never being afraid to evolve.

METROPOLIS — DAY 5 ✂️
This is all about understanding shape, texture and balance.

With this image I wanted to create a strong silhouette, then use texture and separation to give the hair movement and individuality.

It’s those small details that can completely change the finished result.

I still love cutting. The tools and trends may change, but understanding the foundations gives you the confidence to break the rules and make something your own.

From structure… to movement.

With this image I wanted to explore a completely different feeling within Metropolis — allowing the hair to move, the texture to come alive and the colour to do the talking.

The magenta brings the energy, but for me it’s the movement that makes the image.

That’s what I love about creating a collection. Every image doesn’t have to say the same thing — but together, they need to tell the same story.

I’m still experimenting, still learning and still pushing myself creatively.

Because we never stop evolving. 💗

Sometimes the strongest images come from keeping things simple.

For this look, it was all about the foundations — cut, colour, shape and finish working together.

I wanted the rounded shape to feel strong and graphic, while the blue and green tones bring another dimension and give it that modern, editorial edge.

I still believe everything comes back to the fundamentals. Trends change, techniques evolve, but a great foundation will always give you the freedom to be creative.

Precision meets movement.

For this image, I wanted to explore strong graphic shape while still keeping a feeling of movement through the hair.

The contrast of black and silver really exaggerates the lines of the cut — showing how precision, texture and finish can completely change the feeling of a look.

METROPOLIS was about pushing myself creatively, experimenting and evolving — while always coming back to the foundations of great hairdressing.

After 42+ years in this industry, I still believe there is always something new to learn, try and create.

Finally, I can start sharing the finished images from my shoot back in May.

Metropolis was created for my British Hairdressing Awards 2026 entries, but shoots like this have always been about more than competitions for me.

After 42+ years in hairdressing, I still want to learn, experiment and push myself creatively. An idea starts in your head, but once you bring together a creative team, it evolves — and that’s one of the things I love most about photographic work.

We never stop learning. We never stop evolving.
