As the temps begin to dip, it reminds me that itās time to dust off the hot stones. I had taken them off the menu for summertime because no one wants a hot stone massage when itās 90 degrees outside. But now everyone is coming in wearing their cozy hoodies and I think itās a perfect time to start heating things up!
There is a strong correlation between posture and pain, and itās not hard to see why. Posture is just static form. When we alter our form for certain exercises, we alter which muscles are recruited more heavily. Posture is no different except the muscle activation is isometric. Just like working on better form for your deadlifts allows you to lift more weight without pain, working on your posture will help alleviate that chronic joint pain. Not sure what exercises to do to help your posture? Just ask!!
I ā¤ļø doing the longer sessions and giving the whole body the attention it deserves. Sometimes thatās not what the patient needs. The 60 minute session is perfect for addressing specific issues, or for general relaxation. Full body, deep tissue work? Youāre gonna want the 2hr sesh! āš¼
If this popped up on your feed, itās because our AI robot overlords know youāve been stressed and missing human connection. And really, who knows you better than that device in your pocket reading your thoughts. Jk šā¦. or am I?! š
There are appointments open Th/Sa/Su this week and thereās even a link in my bio for you to book your connection and relaxation session this week.
I look forward to seeing you!

The garage is still full of boxes from our move, but I found my barbell and some plates amidst the chaos and took them out in our beautiful new backyard.
I was multitasking getting some sets in while I dismantle the king size box spring that we couldnāt get up the stairs. Iām off my normal fitness routine and thatās totally ok. Just another type of flexibility to be able to change it up and go with the flow. Hope yāall are enjoying this great weather today and getting some sun on your faces. Love yas! ā¤ļø
The rotator cuff is made up of four muscles whose tendons encapsulate the ball and socket (glenohumeral) joint.
Yes, they rotate the shoulder, but just about every muscle that attaches to the shoulder has some effect on rotation. And many of them are much larger and stronger muscle groups than these tiny muscles that make up the joint capsule. This is why itās so important to work on balancing the shoulder musculature. As you probably already know, rotator cuff tears are a very common problem as they tend to go undertrained, and we also tend to develop overactivity in the bigger muscle groups that pull the shoulders forward. It may not be the most comfortable area to work on but a little discomfort now is better than surgery later! š

The more you know, the less capacity you have to learn. Iāve been wrong about enough stuff in my life to always be curious and prepared for the unexpected. Even if youāve treated 1,000 patients for the same affliction with the same protocols, that 1,001th patient can throw you a curve.
Fascia is all the craze right now. It is a very important system in the body but much of the marketing around it is nonsense. Hereās an example of what makes fascia a significant factor in movement:
The lateral quadricep (VL) has a tendency to become overactive relative to the other quadricep muscles. This is because it shares a fascial synergy with TFL, a small stabilizer muscle of the outer hip.
TFL is ON - VL is ON
The TFL compensates for a weak glute medius so in order to fully address the issue, we need to release the trigger points in VL + TFL, AND activate/strengthen the glute medius with something like banded glute bridges. Leaving out the exercise portion is only half a solution.
