12 week check-in 😁💖💖

There’s so much more I’m looking at during a check-in than length retention.

I want to know: How does the hair feel? How is it responding to water? How is it responding to product? What does the scalp and buildup situation look like? How are the ends holding up? And most importantly — is the routine we created actually working for this client?✨🫶🏼

For her, the answer at 12 weeks was YES. 👏🏽

She went from washing about once a month and relying heavily on oils and products to consistently washing weekly, maintaining her hair between appointments, and finding styling options that fit her active lifestyle.

And the length retention? That was the bonus.🎯😉

This appointment wasn’t about starting over or changing everything again. It was about checking the progress, seeing how her hair responded to the changes we made, and deciding what we want to build on next.

This one was all about creating a bright blonde while still giving it enough softness and dimension to work with the way she actually wears her hair! Also my client had never done color before so I was working on completely virgin hair!💖💖
And two weeks later? The curls reverted beautifully and the blend was still hitting. 🫶🏼

This was actually my first legit go-round with Matrix 9+ Blonde Lightener and… yeah…. We’re locked in!😉🤞🏼

“I don’t feel good wearing my hair out anymore.” 💔

That sentence told me everything I needed to know about where we needed to start.

During her consultation, we uncovered that the unevenness she was dealing with wasn’t simply from her color history. She had also been regularly wearing her hair in wet, slicked-back ponytails and buns—and when you combine that kind of repeated tension and manipulation with previously lightened hair, the ends can become much more vulnerable to breakage.🥺🩷

She knew she wanted to get her hair back to a place where she actually felt good wearing it out again. So we made a plan to get her hair into a healthier, more balanced shape first… and then work toward the color transformation she really wanted.

Scarlett has been getting her hair braided, but the cornrows have become really uncomfortable for her scalp. She does much better with plaits, so that’s what her family has been sticking with. But Grandma was noticing another issue — Scarlett’s hair was becoming extremely dry, especially toward the ends.✨

Scarlett really wants to wear her hair down and curly, but her family didn’t know how to maintain her curls that way at home. So during our consultation, I FaceTimed her mom, Michaela, while she was at work so we could talk through their current routine and figure out where we needed to start.

After hearing everything, I knew I didn’t just want to style Scarlett’s hair and send her home. I wanted to make sure this family had what they needed to actually care for her curls at home. So I surprised Grandma with a giveaway. 💖✨

She had been trying to get Scarlett in since the beginning of summer, and after all the scheduling, work and life back-and-forth, It was really put on my heart to make a gift bag for Scarlett and her family!
