It’s a new month and we have so much to celebrate! 🎉

Today, October 1, Gabbi .witch.gvbbi celebrates her *three year* Hightide anniversary! You may recall that we built an extra station on our salon floor to welcome her to our team, and what a terrific decision it was!

Today is also Sophia’s Sophia | Raleigh Stylist | Blondes + Balayage two-year Hightide anniversary, and on the 11th she celebrates her birthday! We have all been blessed by Sophia’s sweetness, incredible sense of humor, and we are so grateful to call her part of our team!

On October 14th, Hightide Marketing Manager Alyssa Alyssa Noble celebrates her birthday, and on October 30th, Scorpio Queen Caroline 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐨 𝐌𝐜𝐂𝐨𝐲 rings in another year around the sun. These two baddies share a love of little treats, so we know their birthdays are about to be extra sweet! 🧁

If you’ve been a Hightide client for a while, you’ve definitely heard us talk about The Great ! They are an incredible organization founded by Preston Ross III to help beautify our city, one piece of litter removed at a time. They also partner with local businesses like ours to recycle aluminum cans, and it’s truly one our our favorite partnerships. :) 

With Preston’s help, The Hightide  Salon + Suites has recycled approximately 11,547 cans (and growing!) since we opened in 2021. And that’s on our world-class beverage service and our love of Diet Coke! 😅

Preston and Hightide Salon + Suites founder Maggie share a deep personal connection to environmental work. Maggie is a world-class scuba diver who cares deeply about the health of our oceans and waterways – a core belief that shapes The Hightide Salon & ’s ongoing commitments to sustainability and waste reduction. Preston founded The Great Raleigh Cleanup after noticing an ongoing litter problem in the Raleigh area. He wanted to make a tangible change, and watched as the impact multiplied over time as more and more folks got involved

In a month, The Great Raleigh Cleanup turns 6! In those six years of work, Preston & his ever-growing cleanup crew have removed more than 500,000 pounds of litter removed, and recycled millions of cans! The Great Raleigh Cleanup has also engaged thousands of volunteers and provided work to more that 100 Raleigh residents. To say that Preston has made a positive impact on our local community is a massive understatement!! 

On Saturday, October 17, The Great Cleanup is throwing a party to celebrate their incredible impact! 
Join them at Pelagic for Six Years of Showing Up. They will have a neighborhood cleanup from 9:30-11 and a party afterward from 11-1.

They have also launched a fundraising campaign and aim to add 60 donors at $6/month. Their goal is to create more than $4,000 in dependable yearly support for cleanups, equipment, supplies and their Workforce Program.

Alyssa has been our marketing manager, brand builder, teacher, and a steady presence behind how Hightide and DRFT show up in the world 🌎 all while running her own business, producing RECITAL, and working as a professional dance artist.

She's shown up for this community with her whole heart, and a lot of how people find us, they find because of her.

Like most of the folks we’re in community with, our team is devastated by the ongoing negative effects of climate change. We’ve been seeing natural disasters on increase in scale year after year, and most recently, our hearts have been heavy holding the tragedy of the flash floods in Nepal. Though we are far away physically, we know that support and mutual aid during hardships like this make a major difference. ❤️‍🩹

During the months of September and October, we’ll be donating 15% of the proceeds of all sales of the OWAY hair and scalp care line to support World Central Kitchen. World Central Kitchen

The World Central Kitchen Relief Team is on the ground in Nepal, providing nourishment, comfort, and hope to folks who are displaced and grieving. Having experienced major flooding throughout the state of NC just last year, many of us know intimately just how important it is to have your basic needs met during times of crisis recovery.

We’ve chosen to pair this initiative with sales of because of their ingredient stewardship from farm to final product, and their deep intentionality around their harvesting practices.
