The goal is always to treat, care for, and protect your natural hair FIRST no matter what protective style you choose. āØ
Protective styles are meant to protect the hair, but when theyāre worn for extended periods without proper maintenance, your natural hair can begin to experience shedding, breakage, dryness, and weakness underneath the extensions.
After removing her previous style, we were able to see exactly what her hair needed. So instead of just covering it back up, weāre creating an intentional hair restoration journey to help strengthen her natural hair and encourage healthy growth.
Hereās our plan:
āØ Protein Treatments
Weāll incorporate protein treatments as needed to help rebuild strength, reduce excessive shedding, and minimize breakage.
āļø Consistent Trims
As her hair continues to grow, weāll trim away damaged and weakened ends so we can maintain healthier hair throughout the process.
š¤ Low-Manipulation Protective Styling
Weāll choose styles that reduce constant pulling, tension, and the need for excessive heat while still allowing her to feel beautiful throughout her restoration journey.
For this protective style, we chose a partial sew-in using a loose wet-and-wavy texture, paired with crochet boho hair at the top. This gives her versatility while allowing us to be intentional about protecting her natural hair underneath.
Remember, the goal isnāt just to have a beautiful protective style. The goal is for your natural hair to be healthier when the style comes out than it was when it went in.
